The Mariners added some infield depth to the 40-man roster on Friday, claiming infielder Zach Vincej off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.
Vincej, 26, spent most of the season with Class AAA Louisville, hitting .270 with a .696 on-base plus slugging percentage, 21 doubles, four triples, three homers and 38 RBI in 110 games. He was a September call up and made his MLB debut, playing in nine games and getting one hit in nine at-bats.
His strength is defense at shortstop and second base. In 2016, he was named a Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove Award as a shortstop with Class AA Pensacola.
