Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has claimed infielder/outfielder Andrew Romine off waivers from Detroit.
Seattle’s 40-man roster currently stands at 35.
Romine, 31, set career highs in games and at-bats with Detroit in 2017, batting .233 (74x318) with 45 runs scored, 17 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 25 RBI, 22 walks and 6 stolen bases in 124 games. The 6-foot-1, switching-hitting utility infielder, appeared at all nine defensive positions this season, including 27 games at second base, 23 games at third base, 22 at first base, 51 games in the outfield and 1 game at each catcher and pitcher.
