SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that infielder Andres Mesa has been chosen as the Player to be Named Later (PTBNL) in the Dec. 15, 2020 trade that brought right-handed pitcher Rafael Montero to Seattle. Mesa has been sent to the Texas Rangers to complete the trade.
Mesa, 18, was signed by the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2019. The infielder, born on Oct. 16, 2002, was signed by Mariners scouts Audo Vincente and Alfredo Celestin.
