The Mariners have added an extra reliever, recalling right-hander Mayckol Guaipe from Triple-A Tacoma and sending down struggling shortstop Chris Taylor.
Guaipe provides some insurance for a team that used every member of its bullpen in Sunday's 12-inning loss to the Indians. The 24 year old will be making his MLB debut with his first appearance.
In 19 2/3 innings over 16 appearances for the Rainiers, Guaipe has a 4.58 ERA with three saves and an 0-2 record.
"The Cleveland series was a little tough for us and it gives us a chance to manipulate the roster a little bit, bring in another arm," .
