HOUSTON — The Mariners made a roster move before Tuesday’s game with the Astros. Left-hander David Rollins was optioned to Class AAA Tacoma, while outfielder Daniel Robertson had his minor league contract selected and was added to the active roster.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Robertson, the Mariners placed Adrian Sampson on the 60-day disabled list. Sampson recently underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn flexor bundle in his right elbow.
Robertson, 30, was hitting .262 (65-for-248) wiith eight doubles, six triples, four homers and 25 RBI with the Rainiers. He can play all three outfield spots.
