Dave Sims has no plans to keep quiet.
As the Mariners’ play-by-play man on their television broadcast for the past nine seasons, silence isn’t something that occurs often around him. A renaissance broadcaster experienced in calling baseball, basketball and football games at the highest level, Sims will discuss any sports subject — and plenty outside of sports — with a comfortable ease.
But Sims has something else he wants to discuss this baseball season and beyond.
The subject: Prostate cancer.
Why? Because Sims now is a prostate cancer survivor.
After taking a physical in September, doctors noticed that Sims’ prostate-specific-antigen (PSA) numbers were elevated.
