Mariners are Polite Hosts to Interleague Opponent

Today’s game was a pretty low-stakes baseball game. Neither the Mariners nor the Cardinals are - barring some pretty unlikely late-season theatrics - in the running for the post season. The Mariners began the season on the highest of highs but, until the past couple weeks of actually passable baseball, have been absolutely dreadful. The Cardinals have been better but less interesting, going into today’s game with an exact .500 record and a run differential of +1. Anybody watching today’s game was watching not because the outcome was important, but because they enjoy watching the game of baseball.
