SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that left-handed pitcher Justus Sheffield has been appointed as the club’s 27th man for today’s doubleheader.
The Mariners active roster expands to 27 players for both games.
Sheffield, 26, has appeared in 4 games out of the Mariners bullpen this season, going 0–0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER, 4.2 IP) with just 1 hit allowed, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. He last appeared with the Mariners on April 27 at Tampa Bay, and has since made 8 starts with Triple-A Tacoma after being optioned on May 2.
