Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto and Manager Scott Servais announced today that Jim Brower has been added to the Major League coaching staff as Assistant Coach.
Brower, 44 (turns 45 on Dec. 29), has spent the past two seasons as the Chicago Cubs minor league pitching coordinator. Prior to joining the Cubs in 2016, Brower was the pitching coach for Northwest Arkansas, Kansas City’s Double-A affiliate, from 2013–15. He served in the same role for two seasons (2011–12) with Kane County, the Royals Single-A affiliate.
Brower compiled a 9-year Major League career, appearing with Cleveland (1999–2000), Cincinnati (2001–02), Montreal (2002), San Francisco (2003–05), Atlanta (2005), Baltimore (2006), San Diego (2006) and New York-AL (2007).
