It’s been a little more than 24 hours since the busiest Trade Deadline Day in recent history. Let’s take a look back at the deals made by Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto.
On Wednesday, there were 77 players traded in 30 deals, shattering the previous Deadline Day record of 18 trades in 2016. For comparison’s sake, on last year’s Deadline Day, 43 players were swapped in 16 trades. There was a new wrinkle to this year’s trade deadline, which prompted the record-breaking number of trades. In previous years, there was a non-waiver trade deadline on July 31, as well as a waiver trade deadline on Aug.
