Mariners acquire right-handed reliever Arquimedes Caminero from the Pirates

The Mariners added a power arm to their bullpen depth on Saturday morning, acquiring hard-throwing right-handed reliever Arquimedes Caminero from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a player to be named later and a conditional player to be named later based on Caminero’s performance.

To make room on the Mariners’ 40-man roster, right-hander Blake Parker, who was just called up, was designated for assignment. Right-hander Taijuan Walker will take Parker’s spot on the 25-man roster when he’s activated from the disabled list to make the start on Saturday night.

Caminero, 29, made 39 relief appearances with the Pirates, posting a 1-2 record with a save and a 3.
