SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners acquired right-handed pitcher Yacksel (YAHK-sell) Rios from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations.
Rios, 27, made 12 appearances with Triple-A Durham in the Rays organization this season, going 2–0 with 2 saves and a 0.66 ERA (1 ER, 13.2 IP) with 2 walks and 17 strikeouts. The right-hander signed with Tampa Bay as a minor league free agent with an invitation to spring training on Feb.
