The Seattle Mariners continued their offseason of roster churn Tuesday afternoon by trading minor league infielder Erick Mejia to the Los Angeles Dodgers for right-handed starter Joe Wieland.
Since Mejia wasn't on Seattle's 40-man roster, the club designated right-hander A.J. Schugel for assignment to make room for Wieland.
The moves were announced by Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto.
Wieland, who turns 26 on Jan. 21, made two starts for the Dodgers in 2015, going 0-1 with a 8.
