Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has acquired left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton from Oakland in exchange for minor league catcher Jason Goldstein. To make room on the 40-man roster, catcher Jesus Sucre has been designated for assignment.
The Mariners Major League, 40-man, roster remains full.
“Dillon has been successful at every level of the minor leagues,” Dipoto said. “He is a young, controllable pitcher with Major League upside who adds to our depth.”
Overton, 25 (turns 26 on Aug. 17) went 13–5 with a 3.
