MIAMI (WPEC) - A man traveling from Cuba to Miami was arrested after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents found live birds in his "groin area."
CBP says the passenger was arriving at Miami International Airport on a flight from Havana on Jan. 9 when he was selected for inspection. Officers found six birds in a "fanny bag" and three birds in his groin area.
The man was arrested and the birds were turned over to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Miami Quarantine Station.
It is illegal to smuggle live birds into the United States.
