Luis Sardinas makes start for struggling Ketel Marte at shortstop

Marte gets break after batting just .160 (4 for 25) with no extra-base hits.

It was a move with dual purposes.

Mariners manager Scott Servais changed up his lineup a little for Tuesday night’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Utility infielder Luis Sardinas got the start at shortstop in place of Ketel Marte. It will be the first regular-season action at shortstop for Sardinas and his second start of the season.

“It’s been awesome with his ability to play all over the field,” Servais said of Sardinas. “He’s natural shortstop. That’s what he was signed as.
