After the “longest 15 days of his life,” Leonys Martin will be back patrolling centerfield for the Seattle Mariners on Friday night and hitting ninth in the batting order.
Hours before the opener of the big three-game series with the Rangers, Martin was activated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster, utility player Luis Sardinas was optioned to Class AAA Tacoma.
“We feel good about getting all of our guys back,” manager Scott Servais said. “It’s been a long couple of weeks.”
Over those couple of weeks, the Mariners had to play without Martin and starting shortstop Ketel Marte.
