GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Mariners dropped today’s spring finale to the Cincinnati Reds by a 12–9 score at Goodyear Ballpark. The Mariners finish 2022 Cactus League play with a 9–7–2 record.
Seattle’s offense scored nine runs on 11 hits, including back-to-back home runs from Eugenio Suárez and Jarred Kelenic in the second inning. For Kelenic, it was his third consecutive game that he has homered in.
Right-hander Chris Flexen started for Seattle, tossing 4.0 innings. He allowed seven earned runs on nine hits, walking one and striking out three batters.
