Baseball is a game of opportunity. For many ball players, when one door closes, another opens and the onus is placed on the player to either seize the moment or continue to master their craft until they’re ready to do so.
For right-handed pitcher Justin Dunn, who was ranked No. 5 on MLB Pipeline’s list of Seattle Mariners top prospects following the 2019 regular season (No. 70 in the Top 100 overall), his opportunity came in December of 2018 when he was acquired by the Mariners as part of a five-player package that saw Edwin Díaz and Robinson Canó sent to the New York Mets.
