James Paxton, missing series vs. Mariners, discusses life in New York and the anniversary of his no-hitter

NEW YORK — Instead of preparing to face his former teammates and fire a few high-90s fastballs toward them, James Paxton spent his Tuesday afternoon rehabbing his left knee.

The big lefty was disappointed he didn’t get to face the team that drafted and developed him before trading him this offseason. He was scheduled to start against his good friend Marco Gonzales. Instead, he’s on the injured list with left knee inflammation. He’s already hoping he’ll get the chance when the Yankees visit T-Mobile Park in August.

“I was looking forward to it,” he said.
