The Seattle Mariners on Thursday announced that they’ve completed the deal to bring back one of the best pitchers in club history, left-hander James Paxton, on a one-year deal. ESPN first reported last week that Paxton, who played for the Ms from 2013-18, was heading back to Seattle. The one-year deal is reportedly worth $8.5 million, but can reach a maximum value of $10 million.
In a corresponding move, the Mariners placed pitcher Andrés Muñoz on the 60-day Injured List. Seattle’s 40-man roster remains full at 40 players.
“It’s great to bring Pax back home to Seattle,” Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said in a press release Thursday.
