Ichiro named instructor for Seattle Mariners

Ichiro Suzuki may be retired from baseball, but he'll still be maintaining an active presence within the Mariners organization.

Club manager Jerry Dipoto on Tuesday announced that Seattle's all-time hits leader will work as an instructor for his former team, effective immediately. The position will be in addition to the 'Special Assistant to the Chairman' title that he's held since May 2018.

According to a Mariners' press release, Ichiro "will work as an instructor with the Major League and AAA clubs, with a focus on outfield play, base-running and, in conjunction with the hitting coaches, batting" in his new role.
