PEORIA, Ariz. -- The storybook career of Ichiro Suzuki came full circle on Wednesday as the former Mariners great agreed to terms with the club that initially brought him to the United States from Japan in 2001, finalizing a one-year Major League deal with Seattle at age 44.
A news conference is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT at the team's Spring Training complex. No terms of the deal have been announced.
Ichiro took a physical in Seattle on Monday afternoon, but the deal wasn't finalized until Wednesday.
"The addition of Ichiro gives our team another versatile and athletic outfielder," general manager Jerry Dipoto said.
