"The Class of 2016 had a significant impact on baseball, and I think their elections are richly deserved," said Hall of Fame president Jeff Idelson. "Gentlemen, you combined to wear the uniforms of eight different teams in your careers, and now you're teammates on the greatest team ever assembled, the Hall of Fame team."
With both players' elections expected -- especially in Griffey's case -- the biggest question was which cap the players will wear on their Hall of Fame plaque.
Griffey announced he will be enshrined with a Mariners cap.
"I think I did most of my damage a Mariner," Griffey said.
