TORONTO -- Center fielder Dee Gordon, who has sparked the Mariners' early success with his speed in the leadoff role, was held out of Thursday night's game against the Blue Jays due to a bruised right big toe.
Gordon fouled a ball off his foot earlier this week and will be given a day to recuperate, manager Scott Servais said. Gordon is expected to be back in the lineup on Friday when Seattle opens a three-game series in Detroit.
"He's trying to figure out the best thing to do with his shoe to try to be able to deal with it," Servais said.
