SEATTLE -- Right-handed reliever Erik Goeddel, designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday, was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday.
The 29-year-old pitched well in his two weeks on the Mariners' Major League roster, going 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in 7 1/3 innings over five outings. But the Mariners needed a roster opening for spot starter Christian Bergman on Wednesday and Goeddel was designated for assignment.
Goeddel was with the Rangers this spring and then signed a Minor League deal with Seattle just before the start of the regular season.
