PEORIA, Ariz. — The Mariners dropped their St. Patrick’s Day matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks by a 5–4 score this afternoon at Peoria Stadium. Right-hander Logan Gilbert was excellent in his fourth outing of spring, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with no walks and seven punchouts.
Seattle opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair of runs on Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver RBI singles to take a 2–0 lead. The newcomers have both thrived this spring; Polanco is batting .407 (11-for-27) with two home runs and 11 RBI in 12 games, while Garver is batting .
