DETROIT -- Lefty reliever Charlie Furbush originally hoped to rejoin the Mariners as soon as he was eligible to come off his 15-day disabled list stint this Thursday, but manager Lloyd McClendon said Monday the veteran's return still remains uncertain as he rehabs from biceps tendinitis.
The original plan to have Furbush travel with the team on its current seven-game road trip and be ready for the final game of the Tigers series on Thursday were scrapped and he instead was playing flat-ground catch Monday at Safeco Field and aiming for his first test on the mound in a bullpen session Wednesday.
