Fresno took a three-run lead in the first then held off the visiting Tacoma Rainiers for a 5-3 victory in a Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.
The Grizzlies scored three runs in the first. The Rainiers got two runs back in the third on RBI singles by Mike Zunino (3 for 4) and Efren Navarro.
Jon Kemmer’s single made it 4-2 in the bottom of the third. Tyler Smith drove in the final Tacoma run.
Tyler Heineman homered in the eighth for Fresno for a 5-3 lead.
Tacoma’s Norichika Aoki was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.
