Former Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto has been named the Mariners' new general manager, the team announced Monday afternoon. A month to the day after Jack Zduriencik was fired, the position has been filled by the man who was considered by many to be the front-runner all along.
While the interview process was held completely out of the eye of the public with no updates given to the media, Mariners president Kevin Mather had stated his preference in a number of interviews at the start of the search for a person who had previous experience as a GM.
