Five Mariners takeaways from Monday's non-waiver trade deadline

The Mariners let the non-waiver trade deadline come and go Monday without making any significant moves, though they did designate Triple-A outfielder Patrick Kivlehan for assignment to claim infielder Michael Freeman off waivers from the Diamondbacks.

They then followed up another unspectacular trade deadline by losing 2-1 to the Red Sox after closer Steve Cishek allowed a go-ahead solo homer to Mookie Betts in the top of the ninth inning.
