This question has been in my head since Sunday night. The Mariners hopped on a bus and drove from Anaheim to San Diego and I couldn’t help but wonder what’s going through the minds of most of the players. Under normal circumstances, most people would be very excited to be arriving in San Diego in April. But the Mariners, having just played sixteen (16!) games straight, were probably in a different state of mind than your average person arriving in San Diego. It’s hard to wrap my head around thinking, “Oh boy, can’t wait to get to San Diego and sleep for 12 hours in a hotel and maybe get a pumpkin scone from Starbucks at like 11:30 the next morning.
