The Major League leader in saves made the rounds at MLB Network this morning. Edwin Díaz made the journey from midtown Manhattan across the Hudson River to MLB Network’s studios in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Díaz joined Robert Flores, Mark DeRosa, Kevin Millar and Lauren Shehadi on MLB Central to discuss his outstanding start to the 2018 season.
His 27 saves are the most in the Majors this season and are tied-for-2nd-most in club history before the All-Star Break. Díaz is tied with Fernando Rodney, who had 27 saves prior to the All-Star Break in 2014, while trailing only Kazuhiro Sasaki, who tallied 29 saves before the 2001 All-Star Break on his way to earning the save in Midsummer Classic at Safeco Field.
