Edgar Martinez Elected to the Hall of Fame

SEATTLE, Wash. — National Baseball Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson announced this afternoon on the MLB Network that Mariners legend Edgar Martinez was among four players elected today into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019.

Martinez becomes the 2nd Mariner to be elected to the Hall of Fame — joining 2016 inductee Ken Griffey Jr. — and joins Mariano Rivera, Roy Halladay and Mike Mussina in being elected today, as well as Harold Baines and Lee Smith, who were voted in by the Today’s Game Era committee, in this year’s class.
