Drayer Dipoto's life in baseball brings him to the Mariners' front office

Baseball has always been a part of Jerry Dipoto's life.

"I don't ever remember not being interested in baseball," the Mariners' new general manager told me in an interview for the radio pregame show Tuesday.

His great grandfather had a farm outside of Cooperstown, N.Y., and most summers Dipoto would spent a week to 10 days visiting.

"I still have baby pictures of my dad putting me on the mound at Doubleday Field," he said of his earliest visits.

Dipoto's dad also took him to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, a place he spent hours exploring.
