With the Mariners announcing last week that they’d be transitioning Dee Gordon back to second base for the foreseeable future, forcing two platoon outfielders into full time roles, it felt like it was only a matter of time before the Mariners made a move to rid themselves of a backup infielder in favor of another outfielder. Not so fast.
All of a sudden, it seems Gordon Beckham’s audition for an everyday role has been extended.
Although no timetable has been announced yet for an expected return to the field, a precursory Google search indicates a “more severe injury that requires casting, reduction, or surgery will take possibly 6 to 8 weeks to heal.
