David George Goodburn was born to James and Verna (Williams) Goodburn on June 29th, 1932 in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. He attended the Country School up until 8th grade and later graduated from Madelia High School in 1950. After graduation, David was drafted in to the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict 1952-1954. He was honorably discharged with the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Once David returned home, he drove school bus and gas trucks until he began farming full time in 1958. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Ardis Burley at the Lincoln Baptist Church in rural Lake Crystal, Minnesota.
