With the Mariners down, 7–5, in the 9th inning against two-time All-Star closer Zack Britton (then known as Zach Britton), Kyle Seager belted a game-tying, two-run home run. Seager’s clutcher homer — his 15th of the season — buoyed the Mariners to an 8–7 win in 11 innings.
Seager’s home run was the first off the left-handed Britton by a left-handed batter in almost a year. Seager is one of 11 left-handed batters to homer off Britton in his career and the only one to do so twice (also: 8/7/12 vs. BAL).
Since his first full season in 2012, Seager leads all players with 241 RBI against left-handed pitchers.
