Classic Mariners Games: Randy Johnson Fans 16 in Three-Hit Shutout of Toronto

On his way to claiming the 1995 American League Cy Young Award, one of Randy Johnson’s most dominant starts of the season came on July 15 against the Blue Jays at the Kingdome. Johnson worked a complete game and struck out 16 while allowing only 3 singles in the Mariners 3–0 win over Toronto.

The left-hander retired eight batters in a row to start the game, only allowing a two-out single to Domingo Cedeno in the top of the 3rd inning.

Johnson ran into trouble in the top of the 6th inning, giving up a one-out single to Cedeno and issuing back-to-back two-out walks to Paul Molitor and Roberto Alomar.
