Mike Cameron didn’t even play in the first 10-and-a-half innings of the Mariners game against the Boston Red Sox on August 1, 2000, but he ended up playing the hero.
After pinch-running for John Olerud in the bottom of the 11th inning, Cameron remained in the game in right field, before moving to center field in the top of the 16th inning. He stepped to the plate well after midnight for his third at-bat of the game in the bottom of the 19th.
Cameron belted a home run off former Mariners right-hander Jeff Fassero to send the Mariners to a 5–4 victory.
