In his 10th start of the 2015 campaign, Félix Hernández outdueled Rays right-hander Chris Archer, tossing a 4-hit shutout in the Mariners 3–0 win and improving to 8–1 with a 1.91 ERA on the season.
For eight innings, Hernández and Archer matched zeroes on the scoreboard, but the Mariners broke through in the top of the 9th inning. Nelson Cruz belted a three-run home run off Rays closer Brad Boxberger.
Félix closed the door in the bottom of the 9th inning, retiring the Rays in order and striking out two to bring his punchout total to 8 on the afternoon.
