Over that stretch, Hernández went 8–0 with a 1.42 ERA while striking out 83 and walking only 15.
On that night against Boston, Félix held at bay a lineup that included Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Adrián González, allowing only five singles.
Hernández used 128 pitches in blanking the Red Sox, matching a career-high in pitches and not surpassed since.
His 13 strikeouts also matched a career-high (later bested with 15 strikeouts two years later at the Rays). The only Mariners pitcher in club history to ring up more strikeouts in a shutout is Randy Johnson.
