The wait was over.
Led by Randy Johnson’s 12-strikeout, 3-hit complete game, the Mariners beat the California Angels, 9–1, on October 2, 1995 at the Kingdome to break a tie with the Halos and clinch Seattle’s first AL West Division title in club history.
The next day, the scene shifted to Yankee Stadium where Mariners right-hander Chris Bosio would face off against Yankees right-hander David Cone in Game 1 of the 1995 American League Division Series.
