Cincinnati Zoo gets loose polar bear back into enclosure

AVONDALE, Ohio (WKRC) - It took about two hours for employees at the Cincinnati Zoo to get a polar bear back into its closure.

Zoo officials say the bear, Berit, got out of her primary holding area at about 11:30 a.m. on March 16, after a door malfunctioned. However, she did not escape its enclosure. The zoo says she's in a secondary area that's only accessible by staff members.

No one was in the polar bear exhibit at the time. The zoo says there was no immediate threat but staff asked visitors to stay in place until they secured the polar bear.
