Charlie Furbush to undergo surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff

Mariners' left-hander Charlie Furbush will undergo surgery to repair his partially torn rotator cuff next week. He will be out 12-18 months.

Charlie Furbush’s season is over without every really beginning.

On Wednesday, the veteran left-hander, who has been sidelined with shoulder issues since July of 2014, will undergo surgery next week to repair the partially torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder.

Any hopes that Furbush might be a late addition to the Mariners’ bullpen to provide some situational help in the push for a postseason spot have dissipated. Not that many within the organization were still harboring such optimism.
