Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto spent his first offseason in Seattle buying low on players he feels can rebound from a poor 2015 campaign.
He is hoping for a similar revival for catcher Mike Zunino, the club's No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 MLB draft, but it likely won't be at Safeco Field. At least, not at first.
Zunino is likely to begin the regular season in Triple-A Tacoma.
"This (year) is going to be about what's best in the career development of Mike Zunino," Dipoto said Thursday at the Mariners' annual pre-spring training luncheon.
