Cano out few games with abdominal strain

SEATTLE -- Robinson Cano arrived at Safeco Field on Wednesday and found that his name was not in the Mariners' lineup against the D-backs. He was approached by a reporter who asked if everything was OK.

"Yeah, fine," he said.

Well, that's what he told the Mariners, too. Cano wanted to play Wednesday just as he did Tuesday, a day after suffering a low abdominal strain in the series opener. But the team is not taking any chances, sitting its second baseman in favor of Brad Miller on Wednesday and opting for a magnetic resonance imaging exam.
