PEORIA, Ariz. — The Mariners fell to the Royals by a score of 9–7 today at Peoria Stadium. Logan Gilbert made his first start of the spring for Seattle, spinning 2.0 scoreless innings with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.
The Mariners got on the board first in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a 2-out RBI single by Mitch Haniger. Cal Raleigh followed as the next batter and broke the game open with a 3-run home run to deep right-center field, giving the Mariners an early 4–0 lead.
The Mariners extended the lead to 5–0 in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI double off the base of the left field fence by Taylor Trammell.
