MESA, Ariz. — The Mariners fell to the Cubs by a score of 9–5 this afternoon at Sloan Park. Emerson Hancock made his second start of the spring for Seattle and struck out 3 over 1.2 innings of work.
Chicago opened the scoring with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 3–0 lead, but the Mariners answered in the top of the second inning with 2 runs of their own. Luis Urias got the inning started for Seattle with a solo homer to left-center field, and he was followed by Cade Marlowe, who reached base with a single to right.
