SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Mariners dropped tonight’s contest to the Colorado Rockies by a 2–1 score. Seattle right-handers Matt Brash and George Kirby combined for 7.1 innings on the mound, allowing just one run while striking out eight Colorado hitters.
Brash was brilliant in his outing, lowering his ERA this spring to 0.96 (1 ER, 9.1 IP). The right-hander went 4.1 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and one home run, walking one and striking out five. Brash’s lone blemish on the night was surrendering a solo home run off the bat of Charlie Blackmon in the bottom of the third, giving Colorado a 1–0 lead.
